“Ira” (previously known as “Sidmouth Herald”) is an ex-RNLI Atlantic 21 inshore lifeboat. Prior to our ownership, she was the inshore life boat based in Brighton from 1989 to 1999 and then transferred to Sidmouth as an Independent lifeboat. The Atlantic 21’s are superb boats, highly manouverable, strong and highly dependable. This RIB is almost 40 years old, which is a testament to the strength and quality of build of these amazing craft.

The Atlantic 21 Inshore lifeboat was the first generation rigid inflatable boat (RIB), in the B-class series of Inshore lifeboats, that were operated around the shores of the UK by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), between 1972 and 2008.

The Atlantic 21 was designed at Atlantic College in South Wales, UK, the birthplace of the RIB, after which the craft is named.

We purchased this Atlantic 21 in 2005 and shipped her out to the Ionian Islands, Greece to act as our support vessel for our fleet of charter boats. She is a very well known boat in the area! In 2014, we shipped her back to the UK to Henshaws for a major refit. They did a superb job with her and got her looking like a new boat again.
