Sailing Today Article June 2008 |
|
Sailing Today Magazine Editor, Duncan Kent, came out to the Ionian for a week long charter of Tranquillity, our Legend 41DS in June 2008. Having recently tested a Legend 45DS on the Solent, Duncan was keen to see how a similar boat faired as a charter boat in the Med. You can download the article here: Click Here |

This winter we are saying goodbye to two long serving yachts, that have been on the Nisos fleet since we started in year 2000. Little Gem (Dufour 36) and Realt na Mara (Beneteau Oceanis 361) are leaving us for pastures new. Little Gem is heading off to Turkey with her owner to explore that region, and Realt na Mara is heading north to Holland, where she will be used as a private yacht by her owner. Farewell - and safe journeys! It's not all bad news though.... We will be welcoming Starshine to the fleet in April 2009. Starshine is a new Hanse 350 (2 cabin). We have been looking at the Hanse yachts for many years and are delighted to be able to add one to our fleet for the first time. These German built yachts are few and far between in the Ionian, so if you are lucky enough to charter her, you will be able to have that smug look on your face, secure in the knowledge that you are sailing the only charter Hanse around! Starshine has a huge specification for a charter boat and will be a fantastic addition to the fleet! Look out for her! |

Nisos Yacht Charter Introduction |

Welcome to the new Nisos Yacht Charter web site! It is a bit of a work in progress, so if you have any comments on how it can be improved, then please do get in touch with us. We are also adding new itineraries on an ongoing basis, so if you would like to share your cruising experiences, please do send them to us. The more information and pictures, the better. We are now taking bookings for the 2009 season, so please do get in touch if you would like to check availability and prices. As always, early booking is the best way to go - best choice of boats, flights and dates. The 5% early booking discount applies up until the end of the London International Boat Show (9th to the 18th January 2009). We will be exhibiting at the London International Boat Show (stand number N60B), and as always, we will have Laurie Campbell and his team from Greece on the stand, so do come by and say hello. Our boats are not plastered in advertising for our business. We want you to feel that this is your boat for the duration of the holiday and not somebody elses. There is a discreet "Nisos" flag hoisted and a small web address on the rear transom and that is it. The flag helps us spot you when you are out and about, but if you want to take it down (just put it back at the end of the week!), and pretend that this is your private boat - then fine by us. We do put a couple of brochures on board, as it is normally the case that you will get talking to the family moored next to you and they will want to know where you got your boat. Please give them a brochure! It's all part of making it a personal holiday for you. |

We decided to start charging in advance for diesel fuel at set rates a couple of years ago. We used to (like most operators still today) dip the tank when clients returned and charge accordingly, however this had its drawbacks for all parties. It basically meant that we needed clients to return to base earlier, so that we had time to dip the tanks and take your money on site, which meant you had to come back to base on the Saturday evening. We really wanted clients to get the most out of their holiday and stay out amongst the islands for the final night, returning on the Sunday morning, just in time to jump off the boat and into the waiting taxi - and this meant charging in advance for fuel so there was no messing around when clients came back in. Of course some clients use more fuel than others, but it probably balances out over the years and gives you that vital final night out away from base! Oh... and the number of clients returning at the end of the week having blown their last few euros on the their final meal was amazing...... cheques in the post guv...! |
